How the margin is worked out
- Landed cost uses the Japanese asking price plus freight, marine insurance, GST at 15%, entry certification, Clean Car charge and our sourcing fee — the same figures as the import calculator.
- The local figure is the median Trade Me asking price for that model, with the top and bottom 10% of the sample trimmed. Asking prices are not sale prices, so treat the margin as an upper bound.
- Comparables are matched by model family, not by exact grade, year or condition. A tidy R34 V-Spec and a tired base Skyline sit in the same bucket, so always check the car before you buy on margin.
- Prices move. We refresh the Trade Me sample daily and show the date above.
