Nissan Silvia Spec R
日産 シルビア
- Years
- 1999–2002
- Engine
- SR20DET 2.0L turbo inline-four
- Power
- 184kW (Spec R)
- Price in Japan
- ¥2m–¥6m; unmodified Spec R cars keep climbing
The last Silvia and the cleanest of the family. Spec R gets the turbo, six-speed and helical LSD; Spec S is the naturally aspirated car that gets sold as a Spec R far too often.
What costs money
- Drift history: welded diffs, cut guards, angle kits and bent steering knuckles.
- Spec S cars wearing Spec R badges — verify the engine code on the block.
- Front chassis rail damage from low-speed impacts.
- Blown SR20 rebuilds using cheap pistons.
What a good one looks like
- Original Autech or aero body kit still fitted and undamaged.
- Standard turbo and stock boost, with the ECU untouched.
- Grade 4 with an R interior grade.
Importing one
1999–2000 build dates are now age-exempt in Australia; later cars need SEVS/RAW. Straightforward for New Zealand.
